Video Editing

My current work is with Paralympics New Zealand as a Digital Content Creator. Here, my video editing skills are a huge asset, allowing me to craft compelling and moving social media videos about our Paralympians.

I spent 2¹/² years crafting engaging video content for TVNZ's news and current affairs platforms on linear broadcast and digital. This ranged from daily news stories, to television commercials, to mini-documentaries and profile pieces and commercial integration slots on TV.

I have a keen sense of pacing and style and I truly value telling stories that matter to New Zealanders and that reflect their lives.

Paralympics New Zealand

Digital Content

A significant portion of my work with Paralympics New Zealand has centred around creating content of the fantastic New Zealand Paralympic Team to introduce and celebrate the athletes in the build up to and during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Below are a couple of videos I shot and edited prior to the Games this year.

A significant part of my time at TVNZ has been editing with Re: News to put out video content that speaks to the rangatahi of Aotearoa and tells stories that matter to them. These stories have been able to reach more that 6 million viewers each month all across the digital space on the likes of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.

Many of the projects I have been involved in with Re: have been videos that consistently reach hundreds of thousands of viewers.

For example, this profile of an off-grid bakery on Great Barrier Island reached 300,000 viewers.

This profile in studio with a young musician undergoing a mentorship by established musician Poetik reached 120,000 viewers.

This piece explored Wellington's nightlife on Courtenay Place, and whether it's a safe place for young people to have a night out. It reached 87,000 viewers.

Everyday news stories have been a big part of my work too. 1 News puts out a 1-hour bulletin every night of the week and it has been part of my job to ensure that every story makes it to air on-time and to a good standard of quality. This often involves managing a team of 6 and budgeting our time effectively to see that everything gets done.

An example of a news story I'm proud of is this piece exploring New Zealand's troubled water infrastructure, and what its going to take to get it back on track.

Television News Content

1 News

I have been fortunate to be involved in a series of TV commercials produced by TVNZ's Blacksand commercial team for MoreFM and The Warehouse during the Christmas period of 2022.

These were shot on location in various New Zealand towns giving away a Christmas prize pack to deserving kiwis nominated by their friends and whānau.

This was a really successful campaign and was a great experience for me as an editor. Cutting a great story to a strict duration and meeting technical requirements for broadcast was an exciting challenge.
