The Road to Mesopotamia is a short documentary which I shot and edited in partnership with my fellow student and friend, Caomh Browne-Scott.

The story follows Matt, a rural Canterbury courier tasked with completing the last leg of the mail route up the Rangitata Valley, which isn't serviced by NZ Post.

Along the way, Matt takes beautiful landscape photography of the scenery around him. Begging the question... Is he a mailman or a photographer?

This project was terrific fun. Two days spent driving up and down the valley in the back of Matt's mail van, each of us calling for a stop every 100 metres to drop some mail or capture a shot. I look back on the trip fondly.

Short documentary

Plight of the Penguins is another short documentary I shot in contribution toward my final assessment at Broadcasting School.

The story explores the conservation efforts for the Yellow-eyed Penguin (Hoiho) in Otago. We spent 2 days in Dunedin speaking to experts and staking out to capture the rare birds on camera.

This was an exciting technical challenge, as we were battling the cold and wind of the not-so-tropical Otago beaches in October, and capturing exciting and interesting pictures was paramount.
